Blog Post #33

An interview with Krista Gorman:

How a Near Death Experience informed her concept of God.

Krista’s return was quick, but not easy. For ten years, she pushed the experience out of her mind, out of her life; but it remained like “static in the background.” Life was deteriorating around her and that included her husband teetering on the brink of life or death with a serious illness.

Depleted and unhappy, she asked herself what she needed to do to regain happiness. She found the answer in her near death experience: “I chose to be the Love I knew I was.” Krista started acknowledging what had happened, reading spiritual books and meditating. She also began writing down all her thoughts, understandings, feelings and realizations to gain clarity as she processed her experience and her life. Within the similarities of the words she had written, there emerged a course of action: 12 Principles of Daily Living.

As the 12 Principles became a part of Krista's daily routine, she noticed something else quite remarkable — her life was changing for the better. In that moment she knew her spirit guides were right: it was meant to be shared, to help others.

KRISTA gORMAN’S 12 PRINCIPLES FOR DAILY LIVING

“We’re here to rediscover and re-experience the love we are, and can do so by going within our hearts and reconnecting with the innately powerful, divinely loving beings we are. The most important part of this process can be found through meditation.”

  • Live in Awareness — You are an infinitely divine manifestation.

  • Live Willingly — Involves acceptance of all experiences of life.

  • Live Lovingly — Allowing Love to rule your thoughts and actions.

  • Live Courageously — Detach from fear, let Love gently replace it.

  • Live Compassionately — Recognize your innate connection to one another.

  • Live Patiently — No need to control circumstances or outcomes.

  • Live Presently — Each one of these moments is infinitely powerful.

  • Live Spiritually — As a divine reflection of your own true nature.

  • Live Faithfully — When Love manifests you can create a Heaven on Earth.

  • Live Purposefully — Commit each day to bringing forth the Love you are.

  • Live Creatively — Express your divine energy in ways that bring happiness and joy.

  • Live Miraculously — Experience life lived to the highest of possibilities.

In the National Geographic series, The Story of God, Morgan Freeman asks Krista if she had a religion? “My religion is Love,” Krista said. “God is Love.” To which Mr. Freeman replied, “That’s what we’re taught when we’re 3 years-old — God is love.”

“It’s that simple.” Krista said. “God is love. We are love.”

“Everything in future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.”

—Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, in Autobiography of a Yogi
