As the process of making a pysanka becomes second nature, one of its talismanic effects becomes noticeable: Concentrating on writing a pysanka relaxes the mind, allowing restless thoughts and life’s relentless demands to fade away. This meditative, talismanic effect — a feeling of inner peace, of inner stillness — is a sign of God’s presence.

Oh, my Lord!

Thank you for delivering me from that dump of discouragement, all the way back to contentment. Please deliver me every time I fall until I fully understand how to achieve the level of awareness that keeps me even-minded. I am grateful for all that You do for me, but I really don’t feel Your guidance with that important project. It feels like it’s stuck, going nowhere. Why is that?

Beloved God,

When everything around me is dark, scrambled with uncertain, I will shift my attention back to the thought of Thee. Guide me to do the right thing. Bless me with intuitional awareness, with a peace that surpasses all understanding.

As the dye dried on the eggshell, the unconditional love of the pink dye couldn’t resist the blue expansiveness that came before it (even though the blue was rinsed in a cool water bath to remove as much of it as possible). This unintentional, royal symbol of healing — an interesting shade of purple — is a fitting reminder that a shift in perspective from the mundane to the spiritual is very healing.

Reindeer symbolize the soul-identified Higher Self.

Intuition is the Star.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.

Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Ukrainian folklore characterizes pysanky as a symbolic, talismanic writing that invokes a higher Universal Power for help, while believing with faithful certainty that It will. The contemporary version of this characterization is a paper-and-pen journaling practice called prayer writing that develops a personal relationship with God.
