Blog Post #106
A prayer writer’s intention is to develop a more personal relationship with God, to know that He is listening and is responsive. The inspiration for this prayer pysanka, and the focus of its contemplation, is The Lord’s Prayer of my youth.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
An invocation to the divinity of Spirit,
Hallowed be Thy name.
that’s infused with devotional reverence.
The dual STAR prayer-symbol, written on the top and bottom of a pysanka, acknowledges God’s omnipresence: on earth and in heaven.
Thy kingdom come,
The TRIANGLES symbolize contemplated prayer seeking an inner, conscious awareness of God’s kingdom: His peace, love, wisdom and joy.
Thy will be done,
The Trillium FLOWER written within the triangle symbolizes the devotional prayer to manifest the necessary faith in God that allows His will to be done.
on earth as it is in heaven.
The foundational design of this pysanka creates a mirror image symbolizing “on earth as it is in heaven.”
Give us this day our daily bread.
Golden WHEAT is the prayer for the harvest of all our material and spiritual needs.
And forgive us our trespasses,
The white DOTS on this pysanka are written prayer for God’s forgiveness and His help and guidance during life’s journey on earth.
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
The great expanse of the BLUE background signifies the prayer to go beyond human limitations into the spiritual realm of forgiveness, compassion and higher understanding.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
The WHITE LACE band, the eternal path of a sincere spiritual aspirant, is the meditative symbol and prayer that the mind and heart may always be centered on God — His presence, His goodness, His peace, His loving guidance.
Amen.
Much gratitude and many blessings to you all!

Peace Affirming Prayer
Peace fills my mind and flows through all my thoughts.
Peace fills my heart and flows through all my love.
Peace fills my soul and goodwill flows to all.
Peace fills my being and permeates all my activities.
Peace within. Peace without. Peace everywhere.
Peace in my mind. Peace in my heart. Peace in my soul.
Peace in me. Peace in my home. Peace in my country. Peace in my world.
Peace everywhere.
Amen.
Ukrainian folklore characterizes pysanky as a symbolic, talismanic writing that invokes a higher Universal Power for help, while believing with faithful certainty that It will. The contemporary version of this characterization is a paper-and-pen journaling practice called prayer writing that develops a personal relationship with God.
