Havest Symbol
Blog #82
Expressing gratitude increases receptivity to the blessings that the Source of all Goodness willingly wants to bestow, making everyday a blessed Thanksgiving Day.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Prayer affirmation
Each stalk of wheat, written on the pysanka above,
signifies a prayer-affirmation for the harvest:
I know that Thou, who wants to bring me joy, will not fail me.
An affirmation’s repetitive nature is an important tool in training the mind to remain positive. The habit of positive thinking that it develops creates receptivity for the intended harvest.
Each symbol is written with sincerity and deep faith to the Source of all Goodness
for the desired outcome — the liberating joy of His response.
A Prayer by Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Spirit,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen
Ukrainian folklore characterizes pysanky as a symbolic, talismanic writing that invokes a higher Universal Power for help, while believing with faithful certainty that It will. The contemporary version of this characterization is a paper-and-pen journaling practice called prayer writing. Both develop a personal relationship with God.
